BARBARA BOUYEA is the principal and founder of the architectural lighting design firm Bouyea & Associates, Inc. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design from Texas Christian University. She worked in the design industry prior to specializing in lighting. From 1982 through 1984, Barbara was instrumental in the development of one of the first lighting laboratories used to educate designers in the Southwest.

 

Barbara created Bouyea & Associates, Inc. over 30 years ago in Dallas. The City of Dallas officially recognized Bouyea & Associates as a certified woman-owned business that meets the requirements of the Office of Minority Business Opportunity. The firm developed a client list that included luxury residential, hospitality, and high-end retail projects.

 

Barbara is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers and served as the chairman of the Membership Committee from 1996 – 1999. She is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society and is an active member of the Advisory Board for the Interior Design Department at Texas Christian University, North Texas.

In September 2003 Bouyea & Associates relocated to Washington, Connecticut, not far from New York City. In 2014, Bouyea & Associates expanded and opened a second office in Denver, Colorado.

Barbara and her team are known for their exemplary work and are a preferred consultant for many luxury hospitality, high end private residential and sophisticated corporate projects. In recent years, the firm’s work has included projects throughout the United States as well as in Spain, Colombia, Egypt, Costa Rica, Canada, Turkey and Japan. Several large projects include hospitality developments in Hawaii, San Francisco, Spain and New York.
